Daily Wear: On the road again….

August 7th, 2010

The hubby and I are on the road again… but this time to the wonderful beach to visit a pregnant friend of mine.  I wanted something that was cute, but comfortable.  If you haven’t notice, comfort is truly #1 in my book.  I have to be comfortable in order for me to wear something more than once.

Good Looking Houses: Curtains Completed

August 4th, 2010

I finished the curtains and I am so glad they are completed.  I think it definitely adds another dimension to the room.  Below is the progress of the curtains.  However, I still have one thing left to do, which  the hubby will do when he gets a chance, the curtain rod needs an extra support in the middle of the french doors.  Hmmm.  Can’t wait! I am so excited.

The curtains were a variation of the curtains made by Make It and Love it, which is located here. What do you think?  Do you like them or should I have done them from a different fabric?

Daily Wear: Comfort is #1!

August 1st, 2010

I am HORRIBLE about coming up with names of outfits.  Today was spent hanging out with my mom.  She is battling a chronic illness and I spend one day a week with her so that my dad is able to go to work.  I needed a comfortable outfit that I could spend in a cold hospital or the warm outside.  This was the perfect outfit for the occasion.

Shirt: Target ($1)

Cardigan: Target ($7)

Jeans: Target ($30)

Shoes: Chinese Laundry via Goodwill ($3)

TOTAL: $41

Man. I have a lot of clothes from Target.  I just find such good deals there and there are always wonderfully comfortable!  I ALWAYS dress for comfort!

Good Looking Houses: Curtains???

July 29th, 2010

While being out of school for a few weeks, I am trying to accomplish little projects around the house.  One of which is making the curtains for the dining room.  I have had the fabric for almost a year and never got around to it.  However, with all of the extra time I have (highly unusual), I decided to make them.  Here is a teaser picture.

I hope you enjoy!

Daily Wear: Hanging Out with the Kiddos

July 26th, 2010

Today, I hung out with my niece and nephew.  I wanted to wear something that was not only cute, but comfortable; however, comfortable was the key quality I was looking for.  This outfit was perfect for the playground and then the pool, especially when I came home and wanted something light and airy to wear, so that it would not hinder my sunburned body.  You would like that I would know how not to get sunburn by now, but apparently not.  Luckily, this picture was taken prior to the sunburn and for some reason I have my cell in my hand… Interesting… BTW, the skirt is actually navy blue… for some reason it looks black in the picture.

casual

This outfit was made up of old favorites.

Shirt: Old Navy: … Years ago… Maybe $15

Cami: Kohls: $6

Skirt: Target: $15

Shoes: OLD OLD Rainbows… $60 (these flip flops are so old, that I realized today that I have worn off the sole in some parts of the shoe… However, they are the most molded to my foot)

Total: $96

Daily Wear: Shopping with the Big Sis

July 24th, 2010

My big sis and her kids are in town visiting.  We were able to get away for a day (the wonderful hubby watcher her kids so we could go have a girls day).  We did minor shopping, had lunch and was able to visit.  I wanted something that was comfortable and easy to take off and on (since we might be changing clothes).

shop

Cami: Kohls  ($3)

Vest: Ross (I think… $15)

Capris: Target (It was years ago… maybe $10)

Shoes: Rainbows… ($60)

Total: $88

Even though I really like this outfit, I realize it does not hit me in the best of places.  Not only do I look a few months pregnant, but the vest hits me at my hips, where I am the widest.  Will I wear this outfit again?  Most likely….  However, it is at least good to know what you might do differently when you are presented with all of the facts.

On another notes, while the sis was in town, I realized how much I miss running.  Maybe I will start running again!  I did enjoy it!!!

Daily Wear: Daring to Excel

July 22nd, 2010

Even though my first intention with this blog was to demonstrate a leave of craftiness, it grew into a way for me to excel at trying daring new outfits.  I do not have a problem with trying them on; however, I have a problem with wearing them out.  I become very self conscious about not only the ways people look at me, but even what they think of me.  Yup, that’s right.  I can what complete strangers think of me.  It’s sad because I know deep down it really doesn’t matter, but I still cannot change how I feel.  This outfit, even though, it seems so ordinary to probably even one else, was daring for me.  Not only am I wearing skinny jeans, which is probably the second time ever, but I am also wearing pink.  I am not a pink person.  I like pink, but I never WEAR pink.

Any ways, today my day will be filled with shopping and relaxing.  I have worked a lot lately in the past few weeks and I needed a much needed shopping break! :)

Earrings: Gift
Cami: Somona via Kohls $7
Shirt: Old Navy via Ebay $2
Jeans: Lee via Kohls (Jeans I have had for three years that I refashioned into skinny jeans.  See here for details. ) Probably $25
Shoes: Nine West $20
Total: $54

P.S. I started doing the total to see how much money I actually spend on outfits.  I am a bit surprised by the last too.  I thought I spent a lot more!

Good Looking Houses: The Office

July 20th, 2010

After two months worth of work, the office is finally completed.  It went from white clutter to blue and organized.  The hubby and I painted the walls Mist, which happens to also be the color of our kitchen.  We bought the lateral file cabinet off Craigslist, the bookcase from the unfinished furniture store, and my dad and the hubby made the desk.  The whole office redo cost about $500 and what a wonderful transformation!!! Now, I have a desk to study on, instead of the sewing machine. :) No More Back Problems! :)

Inspired Clothing: In Style’s July 2010 Issue

July 18th, 2010

Several weeks ago, I received the July issue of In Style.  I was amazed by the Bachelorette date night idea section.  I know something so simply impresses me all the time! I am very easily amused.  Here is one idea, date #4, where I was inspired and recreated with my own clothes! You will definitely have to tell me what you think.

I do not own a military like jacket, so I substituted with a button down striped shirt.    The dress and shirt are both from Target.  The belt is from Goodwill and the shoes are from Nine West.
