Good Looking Houses: The Office

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

After two months worth of work, the office is finally completed.  It went from white clutter to blue and organized.  The hubby and I painted the walls Mist, which happens to also be the color of our kitchen.  We bought the lateral file cabinet off Craigslist, the bookcase from the unfinished furniture store, and my dad and the hubby made the desk.  The whole office redo cost about $500 and what a wonderful transformation!!! Now, I have a desk to study on, instead of the sewing machine. :) No More Back Problems! :)

Good Looking Houses: Redoing Valences

Friday, January 15th, 2010

In our old apartment, we had red and gold curtains that matched our color scheme very well; however, in the new house, we do not have enough curtains for all of the windows.  The house did come with these valences that are wonderful, but do not add any added pop to the living room.  They blend into the walls very well.  So my mother in law gave me the idea to take the old curtains and redo the valences.  Six months later, I finally did it, of course, with her help.

I definitely like the pop of the “new” valences.  It adds another dimension to the room.  (By the way, I did end up watering that poor plant.)  Now, I just have to make the curtains for the dining room. :)

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Christmas is definitely my favorite holiday of all times; however, I decided to work again.  Maybe I will be lucky and get to go home early!  Any ways, I hope everyone is enjoying wonderful and memorable times with family and close friends!!! :)

P.S. I might not post until after the New Year.  All of my siblings will be in town and I want to spend as much time with them as possible!!!

Good Looking Houses: Christmas Decorations

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Christmas is only a few weeks away and I can’t wait.  It is by far one of my favorite holidays!  Here are a few favorites I found on Etsy to get you in the Christmas/Winter Holiday spirit!

treeChristmas trees are what I think of as the international symbol of Christmas.  Almost every house has one, whether real or fake, green, white or pink, and no matter what it is decorated like.  These are from All Things White Shop. You would be able to put a Christmas tree on your Christmas tree. :)

cardIt is never the holidays without cards.  Every year I look forward to receiving tons of Christmas card, with or without pictures.  I definitely enjoy see the update picture of everyone’s family.  This holiday card is from Cristin Rae’s shop and this card describes the holidays like no other card does.

napWith eating all of the holiday goodies, you will always need a napkin to be near by.  This green napkin just reminds me of the Christmas season without being too Christmasie.  It can be found at Elizabeth Bentz’s shop.

mini treeLast, but definitely not least, are my favorite felt trees.  If you don’t have room for a Christmas tree of any sort, this would be perfect for you.  You could put it as a table decoration or at your entry way.  It could go any where!!!  Find these trees and other neat holiday decorations at Rak Designs.

Can’t wait to share my small amount of Christmas decorations!

Good Looking Houses: Halloween Decorations

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

This year the hubby and I are having a scary movie fest, so I decided I should at least put out a few Halloween decorations.  I gathered stuff we already had and bought a few things from Target & Jo-Ann Fabrics.  I think it turned out pretty well.

Good Looking Houses: Door Stop

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

The hubby and I went on a little vacation and to a wedding.  While we were away in Boston, we found this cute “little” store called Black Ink.  It has a lot of cute little things that you wouldn’t even think of.  You can definitely find some of the stuff cheaper other places; however, it is nice to see it in person.    We did find a solution to a problem we have in our new house.  The guest room door loves to shut.  We have been using a CD case container filled with cds, but now we have something cute.   It is a “swiss” door stop.  It is designed by Andrew Stafford in the UK.  It was the perfect solution for us!
