Today, I hung out with my niece and nephew.  I wanted to wear something that was not only cute, but comfortable; however, comfortable was the key quality I was looking for.  This outfit was perfect for the playground and then the pool, especially when I came home and wanted something light and airy to wear, so that it would not hinder my sunburned body.  You would like that I would know how not to get sunburn by now, but apparently not.  Luckily, this picture was taken prior to the sunburn and for some reason I have my cell in my hand… Interesting… BTW, the skirt is actually navy blue… for some reason it looks black in the picture.

My big sis and her kids are in town visiting.  We were able to get away for a day (the wonderful hubby watcher her kids so we could go have a girls day).  We did minor shopping, had lunch and was able to visit.  I wanted something that was comfortable and easy to take off and on (since we might be changing clothes).

Even though I really like this outfit, I realize it does not hit me in the best of places.  Not only do I look a few months pregnant, but the vest hits me at my hips, where I am the widest.  Will I wear this outfit again?  Most likely….  However, it is at least good to know what you might do differently when you are presented with all of the facts.

On another notes, while the sis was in town, I realized how much I miss running.  Maybe I will start running again!  I did enjoy it!!!

Even though my first intention with this blog was to demonstrate a leave of craftiness, it grew into a way for me to excel at trying daring new outfits.  I do not have a problem with trying them on; however, I have a problem with wearing them out.  I become very self conscious about not only the ways people look at me, but even what they think of me.  Yup, that’s right.  I can what complete strangers think of me.  It’s sad because I know deep down it really doesn’t matter, but I still cannot change how I feel.  This outfit, even though, it seems so ordinary to probably even one else, was daring for me.  Not only am I wearing skinny jeans, which is probably the second time ever, but I am also wearing pink.  I am not a pink person.  I like pink, but I never WEAR pink.

Any ways, today my day will be filled with shopping and relaxing.  I have worked a lot lately in the past few weeks and I needed a much needed shopping break!

Today I co-hosted or was more like the grunt person at a co-workers bridal shower. It was pretty informal and consisted of about ten women/ladies/girls.  We played  the newlywed, what is the British equalivant, and toilet paper wedding dressmaker.  I don’t know if those are the real names for games, but it is what I call them.  The first one entails someone calling the groom and asking him a set of questions and then asking the bride the same set.  The objective is for the bride to answer them all correctly; however, sometimes they aren’t even close.  One question was “if your first kiss was candy, what would it be called?”  It was pretty funny to hear the responses.  Since the bride is marrying a Brit, the host decided it was only appropriate that we tried to name the British word that correspondent to the American word.  I didn’t even know a third of them.  It was horrible.    Lastly, the toilet paper dressmaker is a standard and you can pretty much guess what you do.

The hubby and I always in some way celebrate Valentine’s Day.  It is generally nothing special because I feel like he should be romantic through out the year.  I am not talking about a big celebration every week, but maybe a note here and there.  This year we are going out to a surprise location for dinner (He is planning, which barely happens) and we made homemade gifts for each other.  I drew a picture of the two of us in my elementary drawing skills & he made me the heart inside a light bulb, which I have seen online.  I loved the idea and even better he didn’t spend a dime, nor did I give him the idea!!!   To prepare for our surprise celebration, I wore the following:

One of the things I hate about Valentine’s Day is how crowded it is. So every year I work on Valentine’s weekend & we celebrate on a different day! The restaurants aren’t crowded. We are able to have a conversation without hearing everyone else! I love it!

Today, I had to go into work for a few meetings.  Generally, I wear scrubs, but when I am not on the unit, I HATE wearing scrubs.  It makes me feel yucky at times. Since I am not in scrubs, I have to wear business casual.

Yesterday was very nasty and of course, I had to run a bunch of errands.  I am trying to gear up the house so that I won’t have to buy groceries or do much to the house for the next month.  It will be a crazy month.  To run these errands, I guarded my clothes with my rains boots and nice rain jacket, which isn’t picked.  It was the ultimate comfort clothes for shopping & fun!

School has definitely taken up most of my time and therefore the post have been a little more spread out.  I will try to post as often as possible.  It has also been hard because of my normal craft time has been turned into my studying time and I’ve been spending tons of time in work out clothes.  However, I did dress up and look nice for once.  The hubby and I had lunch together at home.  He decided to come home for lunch because I had work the previous three nights at work and he was going away on a backpacking trip.  I really tried to do something different and use fashion inspiration, tips & advice from A, E, & S at Academichic, Clare at Between Laundry Days, and the ladies at Musing Around to help guide what I wore.

Too bad you can see my bra strap.  Oops. I didn’t notice until the picture was taken and then my dog kept getting into the way.

I’ve done a lot of driving this week.  I have to travel to and from work, which is about a 45 min commute one way four times this week and I went to visit a friend for her birthday, who lives two hours away.  In one day, I spent about 6 hours in the car.  I really wanted to be a comfortable, so I came up with this combo.  The ultimate comfortable wear: nice light day hikers, comfortable jeans, t-shirt, and a cardigan made out of sweater shirt material.  YAY!  It almost felt like I was in pajamas all day!
