Crafts to Remember: Jewelry Update

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

My little sister got into the architecture school for interior design and so I made her these earrings for a celebration gift.  It was simple and I used what I had!  :)

Earrings

Along with making this sister the celebration earrings, I restranded her pearl necklace that she wore to her wedding. She has broken them and she sent them to me in order to be fixed. She apparently made the necklace; however, did not have time to fix it.

She also asked me to make a necklace and earrings to go with the shoes I bought her earlier in the summer.

Crafts to Remember: Curtains Galore

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

Well even though I have slacked off on posting, I have been very busy with doing stuff around the house.  Below are the two sets of “curtains” I made.  One of which is going on the inside of our old tv stand that my dad made so we could use it as a side board and the other are “mini” office curtains just to bring some color into the crammed full room that houses my desk, my husband’s desk and our sewing machine.

Crafts to Remember: Charm Bracelet

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

For our Realtor, we wanted to do something special, since she has helped us with out first home buying experience (it wasn’t very pleasant).  So I bought charms and a bracelet off etsy and added a few of my own “beads” or “charms” to it to give it character.

I gave it a little package. I even made the label that is on the front of the bag; however, next time, I will make the label a little smaller so it doesn’t take up half the bag.  We gave it to her last night and she loved it!

Crafts to Remember: Master Bedroom Headboard

Monday, June 8th, 2009

P & I made a headboard for ourselves. I found a similar one online, but to tell you the truth, I don’t know where.

Materials:

- plywood

- quilt batting, super thick

- upholstery fabric

- anchor wire picture hanging system

-staple gun

Steps:

1. Place quilt batting down

2. Place plywood on top

3. Staple the quilt batting to the plywood, remember to stretch the batting as you go

4. Lay the fabric down, place covered plywood on top

5. Staple the fabric to the covered plywood, stretching as you go

6. Screw/Attach the picture hanging to the plywood (We used this to hang to our wall and used one on each side)

In the last picture, you can see our “new” lamps.

Crafts to Remember: Master Bedroom Lamps

Monday, June 8th, 2009

Last week, I came across this on Design Sponge! P & I decided to do our own version of it.

We gathered:
- Flower pot made from fiberglass
– Portfolio Candelabra Base Switch Cord
- Drill
- 1″ drill bit

Turn the flower pot upside down and drill one inch hole into the bottom. Clip the “Switch Cord” into place. Finished! It is nice and easy! :)
I’ve noticed that when it has came to the house, if it deals with a power tool, P wants to do it. I think it makes him feel “manly,” which he is. Therefore, I usually come up with the idea and he tells me if we can do it or not and then he does the parts that deal with a power tool.

Crafts to Remember: Wardrobe Completed

Monday, June 8th, 2009

My chest of drawers that I was using in the “mini” townhouse was falling apart.  I convinced my mom to let me have the wardrobe outside in the garage that she has had longer than I have been alive.  Trust me it took a lot of work, especially when I told her I was going to paint it back!

Here are the before & after pictures! Hope you enjoy!

P.S. I think I am done with redoing furniture for a while!

Crafts to Remember: Shirt Necklaces

Friday, June 5th, 2009

Let’s just say that I LOVE LOVE Google Reader.  On Google Reader, I came across a post on Cucumbersome about a DIY recycled necklace.  I loved the idea so I decided to take a try at it with some of my own shirts, yes, I was going to get rid of them before I decided to do this.

Below is my version and the steps I went through:

I was browsing this week on the net just looking at random websites.  I came across a “Bridal Survival Kit” on 100 Layer Cake. I went to creating my own.  I bought clear bags from Michaels.  Then I placed the following into the bag:

- Bobbie pins

- Tylenol

- Wet One wipes

- Lip Balm

- Tic Tacs

- Bandaids

Lastly, I made my own label in PhotoShop.  Below is the end result:
