Daily Wear: Riding in the Car

Friday, January 29th, 2010

I’ve done a lot of driving this week.  I have to travel to and from work, which is about a 45 min commute one way four times this week and I went to visit a friend for her birthday, who lives two hours away.  In one day, I spent about 6 hours in the car.  I really wanted to be a comfortable, so I came up with this combo.  The ultimate comfortable wear: nice light day hikers, comfortable jeans, t-shirt, and a cardigan made out of sweater shirt material.  YAY!  It almost felt like I was in pajamas all day!

Inspired Clothing: Robot Valentine’s

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

With Valentine’s Day coming up, I thought it was necessarily to do an inspired clothing.  This year the hubby & I aren’t really doing anything special nor do we make a “big” deal out of Valentine’s Day.  We usually just go out to dinner and get each other something small.  I think this year we are just doing a date night.  Any ways, I have really gotten into this robot kick and I saw this illustrated work and just had to do an inspired clothing off it of.  The art work is in Vol. 25’s shop.

Daily Wear: Typical Saturday

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

I always wonder what people wear on their typical Saturday, where they have to run errands, spend hours on your feet, etc.  This is what I normally wear or some version of it when we are running around town.

The funny thing about this outfit is it is all from Target, except the necklaces & wedding band.  I normally don’t do that on my days off.

Inspired Clothing: Especially For You

Monday, January 18th, 2010

My older sister has been having some problems with clothing.  She lives in rural Ohio and is not able to shop when she can.  She enlisted me to help her.  She gave me the following specifications that she wanted:

1) Keep the outfit reasonably priced
2) I would like a layered look using “autumn colors”, but you can include turquoise and teal in addition to the usual autumn colors.
3) Keep in mind that I’m bigger on bottom than on top.
I wanted to keep it fashionable, but not too crazy for rural Ohio.

Here is what I came up with:

casual dress

Dress: Old Navy: Raw Hem Jersey Dress

Sweater: Old Navy: Belted Wrap Cardigan

Tights: Target: Opaque Tights-Iron Grey

Boots: Piperlime: R2 Dayna

Necklace: Forever 21: Mesmerizing Beaded Necklace

Good Looking Houses: Redoing Valences

Friday, January 15th, 2010

In our old apartment, we had red and gold curtains that matched our color scheme very well; however, in the new house, we do not have enough curtains for all of the windows.  The house did come with these valences that are wonderful, but do not add any added pop to the living room.  They blend into the walls very well.  So my mother in law gave me the idea to take the old curtains and redo the valences.  Six months later, I finally did it, of course, with her help.

I definitely like the pop of the “new” valences.  It adds another dimension to the room.  (By the way, I did end up watering that poor plant.)  Now, I just have to make the curtains for the dining room. :)

Crafts to Remember: Bird Cage Veil

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

Many of you have probably heard of the 101 things to complete in 1001 days.  Well, if not, it is a list of 101 things you would like to complete in 1001 days.  I have a list and love the challenge, even though at times I wonder why I started it.  I have anything between putting a light fixture up to sewing a shirt to starting graduate school.  One of the things on this list is make a bird case veil.  I don’t know why I added it to the list.  I guess because I think they are neat.  I found all the materials that I needed in my extra sewing material, so I made it today.  I used the tutorial by Hip Hostess, located here.  The tutorial was easy to use, simple and took barely any time at all.  I would definitely add a little comb to the back of it, if I was really going to wear it.

Daily Wear: Lunch Out

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

I recently had a friend that just had a baby.  I saw her, right afterward; however, I then got sick.  Considering I was sick and then the holidays came, I didn’t see her for a few weeks.  Today, I get to go out to lunch with her.  I am completely excited!  I know I just wore this sweater last week, but this week, it has been SO COLD and I needed something to keep me extra warm!  Therefore this sweater was the key.

New Years Resolution, Well Sorta!

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

I have to say that none of my New Year’s “resolutions” really have to deal with this blog.  I start school in a few weeks again and this might go to the side depending upon how crazy going to school part time for a Masters Degree and working full time becomes.  However, I am determined to

1) Lower our grocery bill and other bills, if possible

2) Start exercising 3-4 times a week, again

3) Eat a lot healthier, especially eat more vegetables and fruits.

I would also love to pay all of the hubby’s and I school loans off by December 2010, instead of the November 2012.  We will see what we can do!  We are definitely looking at how to decrease all of our spending habits to pay stuff off faster.  We both want to start renovating parts of our house and in order to do that we definitely need to pay off debt first.  We will see!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  :)

Daily Wear: Family Time

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

My side of the family celebrated Christmas a bit late.  We had family photos, open gifts, and ate tons of wonderful food!  It was not only comfortable, but very warm, since it was so cold on December 30th. I really love this outfit and I will definitely have to wear it again sometime soon!

Daily Wear: Tea Party

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

With all of my family in town, my immediate family, the girls always go to this English Tea Room near my parents house and have a little tea party.  We do it because my niece loves it.  Who can go, goes.  It ended up that my two sisters, mom, niece and I all gathered together for some tea, sandwiches, and a little bit of shopping.  Of course, it was so much fun!
