Crafts to Remember: Painting Continues

Monday, March 30th, 2009

I have finished the bookcase & shelving. The nightstands need another coat. The hubby stained my grandmother’s dresser & the top of his old nightstand after I sanded and stripped them. They look very nice. They need another coat of stain. So only one or two more days and then the nightstands & dresser will be completed. After all of that is completed, I move onto the armoir  & a chest of drawers. Hmm… So much to do. That is what I’ve been spending most of my time doing, if I’m not work.

Below is the bookcase I painted.  I didn’t do anything special to it. Just painted it black.  It previously was white.  I will end up placing wall paper or wrapping paper on the back of each shelf; however, I will have to wait until I move in a few weeks.

Crafts to Remember: Painting!

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

I am really going to be sick of painting by the time we move into our new house.  I have painted completed a large bookshelf & three shelves.  I have done two coats of paint on one nightstand (it needs minor touch ups) & one coat on the other nightstand.  Now, I just have to stain a dresser and the top of a nightstand, sand & paint an armoir & a large chest of drawers.  Almost half way completed & about three weeks to do it in.  Will it get done?  Probably not, but that’s okay.  It will get completed in time! :)

Crafts to Remember: Another Necklace

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

I’m back & doing crafty stuff.  Not a lot because I am still trying to get stuff done around the house from vacation and I’m still having to paint all the furniture.  Here is the little something I did this morning.

Style!

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

Below is my style, according to sproost.com:

Vintage Modern

Flea Market, anyone? You know you are drawn to modern furniture and interiors, and yet you don’t like a space that feels cold and sterile. And who could blame you? That’s why Vintage Modern is so appealing to you. Though the backdrop of the room, the walls and windows, are many times white or monochromatic, the furniture and accessories have the color, shape and texture to bring the warmth into the space.

The great thing about Vintage Modern is ease of mixing different styles in the one space. You can have a new modular sofa mixed with a great pair of chairs that your grandmother purchased in the late 1950’s. The new and old work appear as though they were destined for each other. Even if you don’t have time for swap meets and garage sales, so many of the mid-century pieces were so great that they have been remade and mimicked year after year.

Crafts to Remember: March Birthday

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

My older sister’s birthday is in March and she has finally received her birthday gift.  Below is what I made for her.  I embroidered two tea towels, make her a set of leaf earrings, & some kitchen refrigerator magnets.  However, the magnets don’t hold anything, which I now know.  I probably should have tested them before I mailed them to her.  I did a green theme, since that is her favorite color.  :)

Crafts to Remember: Earrings!!

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

The other night I sat and watched tv while making earrings.  Nothing big.  I just did it to relax and enjoy my free time.  Here are the pictures below of my “creations.”  I don’t know what I am going to do with them yet, maybe sell them.  However, I don’t know if they are quite good enough to sell yet.  We will see. :)

Crafts to Remember: Sewing Art Canvases

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

My hubby & I came up with this idea a while back when we were working on Christmas presents.  It is for my mother in law.  She is always sewing and we are in the middle of trying to convince her to take over my husband’s old room and make it into her sewing room or clean up their extra bonus room & organize a craft area.  We thought this would be something she could add to the bland walls in either room.

Crafts to Remember: Silver Dangly Necklace

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

I have noticed for some time the long dangly necklace with a few “charms” at the end of it.  I have grown to really like them; however, I could never find some that were in my price range that I liked.  Therefore, I made my own!
