Crafts to Remember: Drop Stitch Scarf

Friday, January 30th, 2009

I finally completed the drop stitch scarf.  It was my first one that I’ve knitted.  I’ve knitted other scarfs/shawls, but it was only either purling or straight knitting.  I think I might try to knit a hat next or something along those lines.  I’m trying to get slowly more complicated with my knitting and not join into something full force.  I only get frustrated when I do that. :)

Crafts to Remember: Blanket

I did my first major sewing project without a pattern.  I learned how to applique & sew with felt.  My hubby is going to take pictures for me this weekend & then I will post.  I am not completely 100% proud of it, but I am a very novice sewer & it was a big accomplishment for me.

Crafts to Remember: Lined Envelopes

Monday, January 26th, 2009

A friend of mine is getting married in July and she had a major oops with her wedding invitation.  The inner envelope did not come lined.  She was extremely upset about it.  I told her it wasn’t a big deal and we could fix it.  Here is what I came up with.  To tell you the truth, I found all of the “how to’s” after I did this!  It’s funny how I thought I was having an original thought and come to find out, I wasn’t. ;)

Supplies:

12 x 12 piece of scrapbook paper

pencil

scissors

envelope

glue

Directions

1. First lay the piece of scrapbook paper on a flat surface

2. Lay the envelope on top of the scrapbook paper

3. Trace around the envelope

4. Cut on the inner side of the line (You may have to trim off more.  In order to see if you need to do this, insert the “lining” into the envelope)

5. Insert the “lining” into the envelope

6. Glue the top triangle of the envelope and part of the lining under the fold.  (I used glue stick for this.)

FINISH! :)

Prints!

Wow! I love etsy!  Every day is a gold mine when searching through the pages!  Looks at the two “treasures” I found today!

This is from Belle & Boo.  I just love how “peaceful” it is.  It is like walking in the woods & stopping for a tender moment.  It is also shows innocent love.

This is from Gorjuss.  I love the lime green with a dark turquoise color. I would never have thought about the color combination.

Crafts to Remember: Clothes Pins

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

I am definitely a “plan a head” type of person.  I generally plan a few months ahead; therefore, it should not come to a surprise that I am beginning to work on a friend’s bridal shower gift.  Her shower is in March & I will not be able to attend due to a family vacation with the in laws.  Below are clothes pin magnets that I made.  I need a new xacto knife blade, but it will work for now.   Her kitchen is turquoise & brown.  The back have a solid brown paper with a magnet attached.

I am going to buy some things off her registry, but I wanted a personal touch.  When I finish the whole thing, I will post it. :)

Crafts to Remember: Dresser

My grandmother’s dresser is completely stripped down to the bare wood & sanded. Now I just have to wait until it is warm to strain it! :)

Crafts to Remember: Felted Robot

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

My husband & I are like really really big kids. Lately, he has been into robots. No he doesn’t have robots everywhere, but he has been kind of fascinated with them. For Christmas, I made a robot out of felt. My template was a drawing I made of a robot late one night that I wasn’t working. It took me longer than I would like; however, he loved it!

Here is the final product:
