Crafts to Remember: Sewing

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

In combination with all of this crafty stuff I am trying to learn, my mother in law is teaching me how to sew. Yes, over the past year, I have learned how to knit, sew, decoupage, refinish furniture and the list goes on. I have been a very busy bee. The last sewing project I just finished is a zebra printed purse. I still don’t know where I am going to wear it to or what to wear it with, but it will add a fun component to my wardrobe that I am always “trying” to make hip & unique. Key word is trying.

Crafts to Remember: Knitting

I drive my husband crazy because I am always doing something… So my older sister taught me how to knit.

Here is a red shawl that I did in a simple knit.

I am always getting cold and it will definitely help me to add some extra coverage to my shoulders and arms.

Crafts to Remember: Wooden Letters

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

My two god daughters have almost everything they need; however, their mom wanted them to have their names in wooden letters. I painted the following letters & threaded 18g wire through the letters. The wire will allow the mom to easily hang the letters on the wall.

Crafts to Remember: Decoupage

The hubby and I always start early on Christmas gifts. We like to have all of our Christmas shopping completed by Thanksgiving. Even though I love shopping, I do not like the crowds. Here is something I made my grandmother for Christmas. I took a plain cart canvas, sketched out a rose, painted around the rose and rose stem, painted the rose and rose stem white and finally decoupaged scrapbook paper into the shape of two butterflies. I did use a stencil to help me with the butterflies and cut out the traces with an exacto knife.

Edit: My grandmother loved it, but I guess it helps that she loves butterflies.

Another craft blog… OH NO! Yeah, I am starting one… to show what I am teaching myself to do and my current & on going projects. I have lots of mistakes, but as I have said before this is a learning process for me. Hope you enjoy! :)
